The film is a remake of recent Telugu hit ‘Vedam’.’Vaanam is directed by krish who had directed in Telugu too. . “It is not easy task to do a remake. One has to get the details right and make changes to suit Tamil audience. ‘Vaanam’ has everything in it to woo Tamil masses”, said Simbu.

 

Everyone knew that Rajinikanth’s upcoming heavy budget film ‘Endhiran’ is sci fi film but some section of fans are some what in doubt whether they could understand the film or  not as it is said to be well advanced technology film. Clearing all these airs, director Shankar said the movie would be so simple and every one could understand it.

He said, “Endhiran is one of the simplest sci-fi movies anyone has made. People with less exposure to technology will also be able to understand it easily. And they can thoroughly enjoy the film.”

He adds, “At the same time, even those well versed with science and technology too could relish Endhiran. We have made the film in such a way that it would be a perfect treat for everyone”.

Already the forthcoming much anticipated flick ‘Manamadhan Ambu’ involves huge star cast such as Kamal Haasan, Madhavan, Trisha and Sangeetha. Now adding more pepper to this, it is heard that Kalavani fame Oviya has signed for this film.

Sources say that everyone might think of where Oviya’s character would fit in the film. The answer for this is she will be the pair of Madhavan in the movie. Trisha and Sangeetha will be the pair of Kamal.

A few days back already it was said that Surya is playing a cameo appearance in the film. It is heard that Surya who is busy shooting for ‘7-am Arivu’, took a shot break and joined the ‘MA’ schedule that happened in Kodaikanal.

Let’s see how many more twists and surprises will be on the way on heading towards the completion.

Sources say that nothing could stopped Simbu to take part in the shooting yesterday because if he canceled yesterday’s schedule, it will take some more weeks delay to work with his dream girl Anushka who is very busy actress.

KS Ravikumar’s  ‘Manmadhan Ambu’

Kamal Haasan, Madhavan, Trisha and Sangeetha starrer multi starrer film ‘Manmadhan Ambu’ wrapped up its shooting and had a party at film director KS Ravikumar’s house. It is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin.

Sources say that as the shooting was completed, Maddy is on plans to have a holiday trip to Mumbai with his family. They adds, “Whenever he gets a small break, Maddy would make sure that he is with his parents, wife and son. And this time too, he has left for Mumbai where his family is living, after completing Manmadhan Ambu.”

The latest news is that white milky beauty Tamannaah has been roped in to play a lead role opposite Arya in this film. This is for the second time she is acting in Lingusamy’s direction after ‘Paiyya’. The movie is likely to go on floors soon and the further details of the film is yet to come and will be announced in short time.

Jayam Ravi and Hansika Motwani starrer Prabhu Deva directed latest forthcoming flick ‘Ich’ has been renamed as ‘Engeyum Kaadhal’ (Love is everywhere) which was officially confirmed and announced by the film unit. It was also said that the audio of the film will be released on October 3^rd at Sathyam Cinemas. The latest news is that the prestigious Sony Music has acquired the audio rights of the film. The movie is expected to release for Diwali 2010. It is produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram and has music by Harris Jayaraj.

The movie is said to be a romantic musical entertainer and there is also a buzz that Prabhu Deva will be making his appearance in the starting of the film to introduce the characters of the movie played by Jayam Ravi and Hansika Motwani.

Lingusamy is going to direct Vijay for a new film titled ‘Vettai’ which will be produced by Cloud Nine Movies. It was also said that Yuvan Shankar Raja will be composing the music while Nirav Shah will be handling the camera. But now according to latest reports, young and handsome hero Arya has replaced Vijay for this film. Sources say that there was no information regarding the replacement of Vijay with Arya. Red Giant Movies of Udhayanidhi Stalin have acquired the marketing promotion rights of Kalpathi S Aghoram produced forthcoming film ‘Mynaa’ that has new comers Vidharth of ‘Koothu Pattarai’ and Anakha of ‘Sindhu Samaveli’ fame in the lead roles. Prabhu Solomon has directed the film who earlier directed films like Kokki, Lee and Laadam.

Cameraman Jeevan said, “It was very hard shooting in such locales with no place to keep cameras, chairs or lights. Mostly I had to use the hand held camera.”

Udhayanidhi Stalin said, “The minute I saw Mynaa I felt it’s a film worth promoting. I couldn’t sleep for two nights, the script was so disturbing. I congratulate the entire team for their hard work.”

Prabhu Solomon said, “It is a journey of love. The story is about two characters called Surli and Mynaa and about their love.”

after the grand success of Madarasapattinam, director Vijay has become the most happening director of kollywood and has roped in hero Vikram for his new project. It is said that the project is likely to commence its shooting in this month. Recently it was also said that the film has been titled as ‘Ra… Ra…’ The movie will be producing by Mohan Natarajan.

Now it is heard from the latest sources that director Vijay is ready with the final script for the film but on the other hand, he is not agreed with the title ‘Ra Ra’ for his film which was passed by some sections of media. It is heard that the title ‘Deiva Magan’ is under consideration but is yet to get approval.

The interesting buzz is that Vikram will be having no heroine or as well as no duet in this film which is raising more expectations on the film.

The Tamil version is likely to be acquired by much prestigious Dayanidhi Azhagiri of Cloud Nine Movies.

sexy and glamorous actress Namitha who wooed the Telugu audience with her sizzling performance in ‘Simha’ is this time coming in a female oriented character in her next film which has been titled as ‘Fire’. The film will be directed by S K Basheed and will be produced by S K Karemunnisa. The movie will kick start its regular shooting from October and will be canned in some parts of Australia and Hongkong.

Dhanush and Genelia are acting together for a latest film ‘Uthamaputhiran’ which is undergoing its shooting at fast speed from long time. Recently, chasing sequences were canned in which Dhanush and Genelia were chased by criminals which are going to be highlight of the film.

Director Mithran Jawahar says “The scene was canned in Tirunelveli and Manimangalam near Chennai for 10 days. It’s not the usual chasing sequence you see in films. It’s narrated with loads of action, fun and slapstick comedy.”

The film is a remake of Telugu block buster ‘Ready’ and it has completed its entire shooting except some patch works. In the mean time, Dhanush who was not feeling well and admitted in hospital is recovering soon now.

Sources say “His Superstar father-in-law Rajinikanth visited the hospital and enquired about Dhanush’s health condition.”

actress Padmapriya who has done homely characters in films such as ‘Pokkisham’ and ‘Thavamai Thavamirundhu’ says that she doesn’t want to continue to act in this type of role and adding more on this, the heroine said “I am giving a break for such kind of roles. The tribal costume I wore in ‘Pazhassi Raja’ cannot be worn in any other films. We have to wear costume dresses when we don the role of commercial sex worker or club dancer. I will definitely act in these kinds of glamour roles if I get them.

There is news that there is opposition for South Indian actress in Bollywood. It is not true. Nobody opposed me when I acted in Hindi films. Asin and Trisha are continuing to act in Hindi films. Katrina Kaif who hails from foreign country also acts in Hindi films. Nobody has opposed her.

There is competition in all fields. But it is little more in cinema field. We cannot say that it is objection. I am ready to face any kind of competition. I have the boldness to act in any kind of challenging roles. One thing is that the story should be good or either the role should be good. If neither is there, I will not act in such kind of films.”

actress Poorna, who made her debut into kollywood with ‘Muniyandi Vilangiyal Moondramandu’, is quite happy these days as she has five films in her kitty now and eagerly waiting for her next release ‘Drohi’ which is going to hit the screens on September 10^th. The film has Srikanth and Vishnu playing the lead role and is directed by Sudha.

While speaking to the media, Poorna said, “I believe Drohi will do well at the box-office for a number of reasons. One important reason is Sudha, who is a wonderful director and wants something different. She made me feel so comfortable on the sets. If I’ve done anything cute in this film, the credit goes entirely to Sudha. Actually, I signed up for this film just after my first film Muniyandi Vilangiyal Moondramaandu. Work on the film hadn’t started then, but Sudha was particular that I play the role of Malar in the movie right from the beginning.”

She adds “I play a rowdy girl who is Vishnu’s sister and Srikanth’s love interest. I’ve done this role without any make up. In the film, there were several scenes in which I had to harass Srikanth and be rude to him. I couldn’t have done these scenes without the support of Sudha and Sri. I respect Sri a lot.”

Ajith’s upcoming prestigious project ‘Mankatha’ is being made in the hands of ace director Venkat Prabhu. It is note to mention that all his previous directorials ‘Chennai 600028’ was about sports, ‘Saroja’ was a thriller, and his last film ‘Goa’ was a romantic entertainer. But interestingly all his films are mix of comedy.

According to the film close sources it is heard that his current project ‘Mankatha’ will be having less weightage to comedy unlike his previous films and it will be an out and out action entertainer.

Sources say “Since Ajith is an A-list actor with a huge fan following and this being his 50th film, Venkat has decided to make it as an action movie with a mass appeal.”

Director Venkat said, “Mankatha will be a serious action film with very little comedy.”

actress Suhani who was happy with her latest first Tamil release ‘Irandu Mugam’ says that she feels Kollywood is better than Tollywood.

The actress who had also made her entry in tollywood as a child artist says that tollywood industry mainly concentrates towards masses but kollywood industry have some movie which are made out on realistic story lines.

“Well, most Telugu movies are for the masses. On the other hand, I find quite a number of Tamil films realistic in nature. I would say the Tamil film industry is much more professional than the Telugu film industry.” The actress adds

She says “I am not 100 per cent fit. For me Shriya is the fittest of the actress. But I do follow a routine. I do a lot of cardio. For me exercising is more sporadic. I have made a few life style changes.Seventy per cent food and 30 per cent workout constitutes being fit. And now I feel better than before!”

When she was asked about avoiding of attending the functions, the actress says “Earlier I used to even avoid functions, as it involved getting ready and wearing make-up. I never liked the rigmarole of hours of make-up, changing clothes… but with time I am okay with that too.”

The veteran filmmaker Vishnuvardhan and Ajith’s 2007 sensational film ‘Billa’ proved as a landmark film in kollywood for its powerful action sequences and Ajith’s stylish and dazzling looks.

I think the main reasons behind the kollywood’s eye on making heavy budget movies these days are due to the directors are trying the innovative ways to catch the attention of the audiences across the globe and another reason is the producers are not getting compromise on the quality of production values these days. The other could be the makers mainly concentrating in making the film in more than one language by not bothering about the budget and spending lavishly without thinking much about later come box office revenues. On the other hand, the producers are thinking that making the high budget movies with the big star heroes like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ajith, Vikram, Vijay, Surya could only make their film success at the box office with record breaking collections and not looking back to invest on these star heroes films at any cost.

If we have a look on heavy budget films from the past few years, we have seen Vikram and Shriya starrer Susi Ganeshan’s ‘Kanthaswamy’ that has created immense hype was made with a record budget of Rs.30 crores at that time in the Indian Film Industry. But the film was bombarded at the box office making the investors pockets empty

Then it comes to our mind the super star Rajinikanth’s film ‘Shivaji’ which was said to be India’s most expensive film to date reportedly made with a heavy budget of Rs. 65 crores, directed by India’s most luxurious director Shankar. Though the film attracted the audience with its high production values before its release, it was remained as average hit at the box office but luckily to the benefit of the producer, though his much hyped film ‘Baba’ collapsed at the box office, Rajini filled the producers’ pockets by giving back his favoured amount by giving a hope that his films will have minimum guarantee all over the world.

Kamal Haasan’s movies are nothing far behind to Rajini’s films. His Dasavatharam was said to be enormous budget film ever made in the tamil film industry at that time with a massive budget Rs 70 crores! Though it has grossed opening collections at the box office for Kamal’s action in 10 different roles, it was not recorded as block buster as expected before.

In recent times, following the bollywood production cost of Hrithik ‘Kites’, veteran filmmaker Maniratnam made a trilingual film ‘Raavanan’ with a whopping budget Rs. 120 crores and the expectations on the film has touched the sky from the date of its launch and the film is sold at Rs. 350 crores. But after the release, the audiences were deeply disappointed with the making of Maniratnam and the film was badly bombarded at the box office making the producers’ kitty empty.

It is also well known to every one that how Vijay’s much anticipated recent release ‘Sura’ that was made with high budget was washed away worstly at the box office with no signs of screening the film even after first week of its release.

In the same path of Raavanan, this year’s yet to release India’s ever never made heavy budget trilingual film ‘Endhiran’ starring Rajinikanth and bollywood queen Aishwarya Rai in the lead which is being made in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu by ace director Shankar is creating pre release hype among the audiences all over the world. It has been made with a record budget of nearly 190 crores that could not touched by any one in the industry. But the big question in every ones mind is that how come it will gain at the box office?

We can say that kollywood is celebrating the success of small-budget films this year. Though said to be small budgeted not much expected films, they are gaining high at the box office and remaning as hits. They include Siva Manasulla Sakthi, Yaavarum Nalam, Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, Pasanga, Nadodigal, Angadi Theru etc in recent times.

There are even some other heavy budget films in line for the coming months like Kamal Haasan’s ‘Manmadhan Ambu’ with KS Ravikumar, Surya’s ’7 am Arivu ‘with the Director of Murugadoss, Ajith’s much anticipated ‘Mankatha’ Vijay’s ‘Kaavalan’ etc.

Finally we can say that as the production costs of films are elevating and the theatrical screens lessening to just a few weeks, it is becoming exceedingly difficult for the producers and distributors to make sure that their films have a successful opening in the theatres.

Who ever may be the hero the producers are investing on them and what ever the film they are making with a high or low budget, only the high production values and heavy budgets cannot make the film to sustain in the industry and record as hit. If the makers have right content with a mix of all commercial elements making it in a creative style with an apt hero for that, the audiences are ready to accept the film with warm welcome at any time.
